Tuncay is currently working on a research project funded by the Alpha Foundation about pillar design approach considering overburden geology and mechanics as part of his Ph.D. studies.

Tuncay is a research assistant and a Ph.D. student in Department of Mining Engineering at West Virginia University. He received his bachelor’s degree in 2011 and his master’s degree in 2014 both from Middle East Technical University. His master thesis focused on the reliability analysis using fault tree analysis of draglines. He worked as a research/teaching assistant in Middle East Technical University Mining Engineering Department for six years.
